This auction is for a Rane Ge 215. The Rane GE 215 is a dual-channel, 15-band, 2/3-octave graphic equalizer. It features +12/-15 dB boost/cut range on 45 mm filter slider controls. The unit is rack spaces high and only inches deep. The active filter sections feature Ranes innovative constant-Q (constant bandwidth) design. This means the bandwidth of each individual filter is guaranteed to be narrow enough to prevent unwarranted interaction between filters, yet wide enough to produce exactly the type of correction curve demanded by even the most unusual acoustic surroundings. This differs dramatically from conventional designs of the past, encumbered with the unfortunate characteristic of changing bandwidth when changing boost/cut amounts. Front panel controls and indicators, aside from the sliders, include an overall Level control for each channel as well as Overload indicators. They became famous because they are so damn hard to break. This one has just been completely rebuilt and reconed. (Okay, older cones do tend to get fatigued so, I decided to make it new again.) Every last moving part, inside and out, has been replaced with brand spanking new. The magnet gap has been thoroughly cleaned and deoxidized and a new voice coil precision installed. Spider, surround, tinsel leads, cone and cap are all new. It has never been played except for the customary bench test. (I suppose that means it is almost the same as a new one.) This is a TEAC A-4010 GSL with high density ferrite head. It plays in both directions, has dual speeds, and records from line-in or mics at variable volumes. It comes with the original acrylic dust cover, one full reel, and one empty reel as seen in pictures. Everything works very well. All lights, meters, buttons, knobs, and counters are present and working. The wooden case has a few minor scuffs or scratches but no real gashes or obvious damage. In general it is in very good condition for an oldie. I have recently replaced the main drive belt. While I had it apart I disassembled all moving parts, (linkage, gears, and wheels) and cleaned and lubed them very well. I also cleaned and conditioned the rubber and cleaned and demagnetized the heads. Now everything works just like new. (The main capstan has some wear but I think they are easy to find and easy to replace.) Shipping weight will be roughly 60lbs.
